Fort 49 Grębałów - Twierdza Kraków

     Fort 49 Grębałów to jeden z fortów Twierdzy Kraków, wzniesiony w latach 1897–1899 według projektu Maurycego Brunnera.

 

    Podczas I wojny światowej fort aktywnie uczestniczył w pierwszej bitwie o Kraków. W okresie międzywojennym, od 1919 do 1939 roku, pełnił rolę elementu Obozu Warownego Kraków. Podczas II wojny światowej był wykorzystywany przez Wehrmacht jako magazyn.

 

     Od 1988 roku fort znajduje się pod opieką Ogniska Towarzystwa Krzewienia Kultury Fizycznej Przyjaciel Konika, które prowadzi działalność skierowaną głównie do dzieci i młodzieży i oferuje rekreację konną oraz rehabilitację konną dzieci niepełnosprawnych. Obecnie fort pełni funkcję ośrodka edukacyjnego i kulturalnego i zawiera ekspozycję dydaktyczną oraz sale szkoleniowe. Zwiedzanie fortu jest możliwe w godzinach otwarcia obiektu.

 

     Fort 49 Grębałów sąsiaduje z cmentarzem Grębałów i pętlą tramwajową "Wzgórza Krzesławickie", z wejściem od ul. Kocmyrzowskiej przy pętli tramwajowej.
