Góra św. Wojciecha Barcin

     Góra św. Wojciecha w Barcinie jest miejscem o bogatej historii, ściśle powiązanym z początkami miejscowości oraz rozwojem chrześcijaństwa w regionie. Urokliwe wzgórze, częściowo uformowane przez naturę, oferuje piękne widoki na gminę oraz dolinę Noteci. Pierwsza parafia w Barcinie powstała około 1150 roku, a pierwsze pisane wzmianki dotyczące miejscowości pochodzą z lat 1215-1233.

 

     Legendy związane z Górą sięgają 997 roku, kiedy to biskup Wojciech w trakcie swojej misyjnej podróży do Prus odpoczywał przy pagórku. Po jego męczeńskiej śmierci książę Bolesław Chrobry ogłosił zbiórkę srebra na wykupienie ciała, a ważenie miało się odbywać właśnie na tym wzgórzu.

 

     Znaczenie Góry dla lokalnej społeczności jest ogromne. Po zniszczeniu kościoła, mieszkańcy ufundowali krzyż i postawili figurę Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa, która została zniszczona w 1939 roku. Odbudowę zakończono w 2012 roku, a nowy pomnik poświęcił Prymas Polski abp. Józef Kowalczyk.
